PANDORA - Arabesque Ballet, OPENING NIGHT

The PANDORA project is announced as a chamber opera with choreographed scenes. Which practically means that there is a chamber orchestra, 3 singers - opera star Tsvetana Bandalovska (soprano), and two Bulgarian folklore singers Evelina Hristova (alto) and Daniela Dimitrova (contralto), singing in 5 European languages while the dancers are doing their thing. The 'thing" being a choreography by Boriana Sechanova. The music is one of these 'modern" pieces - quite agreeable, though. It has two parents - composers Paul van Brugge from the Netherlands and Petar Dundakov from Bulgaria. Dutch librettist Berto Reijnders wrote the 7 poems for the 7 parts of the show.
Pandora was sponsored by the European cultural programme of the Performing Arts Fund NL.

Costumes and stenography are by Nikola Nalbantov.
